First and only edition of this monumental history of the Normans and Norman conquests in France, England, Sicily and Italy. As the author collected and published all available sources regarding this history, the work is still very valuable to modern scholars.
André Duchesne (1584-1640) was a famous French historian who was appointed 'Géographe et Historiographe du Roi', and who is called the 'Père de l'histoire de France' (the father of French history). He translated and published the poetical works of Juvenal and Persius and the works of Alkuin, composed still important historical works on the antiquities, monuments, kings and important persons of France, on the history of England, Ireland and Scotland, on the history of the popes, the House of Luxembourg and other genealogical studies, etc.
