Seventh edition of this important, lavishly illustrated and very popular work on the calendar, the movements of the sun, the planets and the moon, the feasts of the year and the signs of the Zodiac by the Spanish chronographer Jérôme de Chaves. The first edition, printed by Alphonso Bexarano appeared also in Sevilla in 1554. The first edition printed by Fernando Diaz (= the fifth edition) was published in 1580; the sixth edition, also by Diaz, in 1581.
Good copy of this rare work.- (Some browning and soiling throughout; small hole in the upper margins of the leaves of the first five quires: neatly repaired, affecting only some headlines; some waterstaining in a few lower margins. A manuscript note by Fr. Jacintho Aime and Fr. Luis Albeto, regarding the opinion and judgment of the Inquisition on this work in 1640, dated 19 July 1648 on the title).
