Rare early German chapbook edition containing the life and notorious exploits of the famous and daring French brigand, also including the account of his trial and execution, which took place at Paris in 1721, when Cartouche was only 28 years old. At the very day of his execution the first theatre-play on Cartouche, written by Legrand, was performed at Paris, and for more than a century stories of Cartouche's life and adventures were published in almost every European language.
