Rare Zwolle imprint of a popular school- and chapbook. The woodcut on title of Salomo's Judgment here is put within interesting ornamental borders. Next to teaching children to read and write, the proverbs and wise saying were also considered to be of the highest educational and moral value, teaching the children to judge and act like true Christians. A large part is printed in civilité.

Good copy.- (Lower margin of title worn, with loss of most of publisher's address; sl. soiled at outer-margin; sl. dog-eared; all defects caused by the roughness and shortness of the vellum wrappers).
No Zwolle-edition of the "Proverbia" in Carter-Vervliet, Waller, Cat. Van Rijn, Muller, De Vries, etc.; not in NUC.
