Rare pictorial chapbook, telling in woodcuts the popular story of the man with the fur-cap. An alchemist in Germany supposedly had discovered the secret of an eternally burning lamp. To keep his secret, the alchemist hid the lamp in the cellar under his castle, and built a kind of robot-man who he then sat at a table under the lamp with a club in his hand. When after the alchemist had died people came down into the cellar, this robot-man, who by the way was wearing a fur-cap, was set in motion as soon as feet touched the steps, and when they came near the robot-man then proceeded to crush the lamp with his club, so destroying the alchemist's secret.
