Original edition of the first 2 series of 8 plates each, produced and published by Allart at Amsterdam and meant to illustrate Van Alphen's famous children's  poems published unillustrated by Terveen at Utrecht or by any other publisher's. To find such loose sets of plates, unbound and with their accompanying title and index is of the utmost rarity as they usually were bought to be bound into Van Alphen's book of poems.
Added: Typewritten letter by the Royal Library at The Hague answering an inquiry about the present set, dated 1952.
