He found protection with Ulrich Duke of Würtemberg and later with his successor Duke Christoph. At their wish he composed the so-called 'Confessio Wütemburgica' (ed. 1552: Confessio Virtembergiae), was present at the Council of Trente, and reformed, together with other scholars, the University of Tübingen. His collected works were printed in eight volumes in Tübingen, 1576-1590 and Amsterdam, 1666. The first edition of these sermons appeared in 1529 in Augsburg, printed by Heinrich Steiner, the second: Nürnberg, Friedrich Peypus, 1532, the third: Wittemberg, Hans Lufft, 1532. Further editions of these apparently popular sermons were printed in Nürnberg (1549, 1550 and 1555), Leipzig (1548), and Frankfurt a/d Oder (1562).
