Scholarly history book on the life and work of the first Roman Catholic missionaries in Friesland, the Netherlands, by Willibrordus Bosschaerts, a Premonstratensian monk at Tongerlo. According to Knuttel the book was the result of both profound scientific research and a shrewd mind. In the preliminaries a letter is present, addressed by Erycius Puteanus to the Abbot of Bosschaerts' monastry, and at the end a genealogy of the Bishops of Utrecht, parallel with a genealogy of the Counts of Holland, is added, together with a hymn to the author by Cornelius Musius, and some epigrams, by J. van Westerlaken, etc. But of special interest is the fine contemporary binding, richly gilt with the arms of Jean Baptiste Daneels, the first Baron of Atterode and Corbeeck-over-Loo.
