New edition of a very popular children's theater-play, originally published in 1804 by Mattheus van Heijningen Bosch (1731-1821), author of the famous Vader Jacob en zijne kindertjes. Now the book is enlarged with some stories and poems by the popular J.J.A. Goeverneur (1809-1889). One of these poems is called "The travelling print-seller" and is nicely illustrated with a hand-coloured lithographed plate of a print-seller showing his prints to a group of children. 
Further added are a German fairy-tale, a fable, a story of a  family who emigrated to Australia, etc. The original play is  much praised by Goeverneur, and he not only put it into more modern spelling, but he most freely adapted the contents as well. Thus, the play is quite ready again for performance by a new generation of children.
