Leyden, P.H. Trap, 1827. Small 8vo. Original pink and grey marbled boards, spine decoratively gilt-lined, with decorative gilt borders on sides and gilt coat-of-arms of Amsterdam in center on both sides, yellow painted edges. With 6 full-page engraved plates, all beautifully coloured by hand. 87 pp.

A fine example of P.H. Trap's beautiful children's books, containing instructive stories in dialogues, including some on natural history, with one of the plates showing an elephant, a lion and a tiger, and another showing various bears. Among the other plates, one shows a ship in distress and the saving of the crew.
Very fine copy in Amsterdam prize-binding, with the folding prize certificate, with the coat-of-arms of Amsteram at the top, of the Curators of the schools for the poor, the prize awarded  to Jan George Lod. Riecke, pupil of School Nr. 10, on the  Prinsengracht near the Reguliersgracht, signed by the secretary J. den Huff, and dated 31 October, 1829.
Waller 1762-1763 (2nd and 4th ed. of 1810 and 1820); Cat. De Koning 412 (6th ed. of ca. 1840 by Ten Brink & De Vries, at Amsterdam); Coll. Caljé-Van Gulik 253 (idem); no prize-binding or prize certificate of the Amsterdam schools for the poor in "Aanvulling" to "De Prijs is het Bewijs".
