With 3 full-page lithographed plates by P.W.M. Trap, all nicely finished by hand. X, 205 pp. Finely illustrated history school book on the life and deeds of the Emperor Napoleon, with much attention given also to what happened at the time in The Netherlands. So, if adapted from the German, as is stated on title, then the book must have been most freely adapted. It gives a detailed and fair account of Napoleon's life and the history of his reign. Of the three fine coloured plates two show the Dutch king Willem I, once with his army at Quatre-Bras, and once being wounded at Waterloo, while the third plate shows Napoleon on the bridge at Lodi. At the end of the work a favourable review of the book is given, published in the "Nieuwe Bijdragen ter Bevordering van het Onderwijs en de Opvoeding", of April, 1850. Good copy.- (Private, rather amateurish binding, spine loosening).
