Examples for poor children, including a poem on Michiel de Ruyter
BOER, Francijntje de.Gedichtjes voor Behoeftige Kinderen.  Amst., C.J.A. Beijerinck, 1823. Sm.8vo. Wrappers. 60 pp. Little book of verse especially written for the children of the poor by Francijntje de Boer, announcing herself on the title as "Dienstmaagd te Sneek" (Maid-servant at Sneek). The book is dedicated to Y. Wouda, teacher at the Poor-School at Sneek and former teacher of the author. The poems of course are adapted to poor children's conditions, so there is a poem on a young girl leaving her home to become a servant, on an orphan, on Michiel de Ruijter, the poor boy who became a national hero, etc. There also is a song set to a popular tune, for grateful poor children in commemorance of the founding of a new school and the improvement of education. Good copy of the first edition.- (Orig. wrappers partly mounted over by brown packing-paper; few stains).
