Nicely illustrated geographical school book, teaching the children in the entertaining form of a travel account of an imaginary voyage around the world. Two of the plates show maps, one a map of the world, and the other an imaginary map illustrating geographical nomenclature. The other four plates show various costumes of the world, with four to one plate, of the Turks, the Indians, the Chinese, Tartars, Egyptians, Peruvians, Canadians, Patagonians, Hottentots, etc. The Dutch edition was adapted from "Petit Voyage autour du Monde", first published at Paris in 1819.
Pierre Blanchard (1772-1836), was one of the most popular French authors of children's books, much translated and published in a.o. The Netherlands.
