Gorinchem, Helmich & Johannes van Cappel, 1671. 3 parts in 1 volume (Old and New Testament and the Psalm book). 16mo. (bookblock measuring 124 x 63 mm). Contemporary richly gilt marbled calf, both covers decorated with drawer-handle ornaments, acorns, stars, circles etc. within rolled floral border, spine richly gilt in compartments, gilt board edges, edges of book block gilt and gauffered. Engraved general title-page, woodcut title-illustration and printed musical scores in the 3rd part. Without pagination (collation: A-4K8 4L4).

Rare and complete pocket-bible, printed in Gorinchem with the Old and New Testament and the Psalmbook, in a rich contemporary binding decorated in the style of Albertus Magnus. Warranted in pen on verso of the title-page by the secretary of Gorinchem, Johannes Boxel. The book is entirely printed in a very small Roman type, according to Le Long "een cierlyk Romeynsch lettertje". The separate title for part 3 is De CL. Psalmen des propheten Davids, met eenige andere fofsangen, uyt den Francoyschen in Nederlandtschen dichte overgeset door Petrum Dathenum. Midsgaders de Christelicke Catechismus, ende gebeden der Gereformeerde Kercken. This part could also be sold separarately (the three copies mentioned in the NCC, however, have their own sequence of quires (A-P8, Q4)!
