Many woodcut diagrams and figures in text, many schedules with numeral information. (12), 68, 191 (1 blank), (38) pp. First edition of an important treatise on the correct calculation of cubicle contents of crafts by physician Johann Hartmann Beyer (1563-1625). Johann Beyer was always very involved with mathematical problems and he spent the better part of his life on calculating and describing the results. It was because of these occupations that he became acquainted with several famous mathematicians of his age, among which was Kepler. The latter one published his work on the same subject, Nova Stereometria, 12 years later in 1615 and he mentioned Beyer and his work in it. This copy is of the first German edition, in the same year however a Latin edition was also published. It is not clear which edition was really the first to appear. Good copy.- (With ms. name and annotation of 1625 on title, slightly browned).
