Contemporary calf, spine gilt in compartments with red title label. Full-page engraving of a merry company drinking coffee in a garden by T. de Rocafort. XII, 228 pp. First edition of this new Spanish verse translation by José de Urcullu of Joseph de Bechoux' popular poetic miscellany on the pleasures of a countryman's table. The original French edition of this work was printed in Paris by Giguet en Cie in 1801, it has been reprinted and translated in English (1810), Italian (1825), Portuguese (1842) and Spanish many times. In 1993 a facsimile-edition was published in Valencia. The engraved plate by T. de Rocafort facing page 83, shows a merry company in a garden; a woman is pouring coffee into a man's cup. Joseph de Berchoux (1762-1838) was a French poet. Besides this work he also wrote La Danse, ou les Dieux de l'Opera (1806 & 1808), Voltaire, ou le Triomphe de la philosophie moderne (1814) and La Liberté, poème en quatre chants, par un petit neveu de Scarron (1833).
