Off-print of this original article on a new genus of dolphins, just decovered in the bay of Rio de Janeiro, published in the Mémoires de l'Académie Roy. de Belgique, 41 (1873) by Eduart van Beneden (1846-1919), who was professor at the University of Liège. During the early years of the 1870's he has made a scientific journey to Brasil. The account of that journey he published under the title Rapport sommaire sur les resultats d'un voyage au Brézil et la Plata (Brussels 1875; Borba de Moreas, p. 98).
