Rare first edition of the first book containing the story of the second Burmese war by Rev. Thomas T. Baker who died before completing this work. Many events discribed here were taken  from his own eye-witness observations. The last communication from the author is dated March 31st 1852. Baker was Chaplain of Her Majesty's ship Fox and many of his crew passed away by the epidemic cholera. The last chapter is an attempt to make a conclusion of what happened after Baker died and the story of the most important happening one month later: the capture of Martaban and Rangoon.
