Richly illustrated edition of the reconstruction and description by Félibien des Avaux of the famous gardens of Plinius. The book gives the relevant passages from Plinius' letters in which he fully describes his gardens at Toscany and Laurentius in Tivoly with the French translation parallel in a second column. The author's comments are printed in Roman type over the whole page. The author completely reconstructed Plinius' gardens shown on the engraved plates of which one is large folding, size ca. 43 x 25 cm.
