Notes, annotations and references, written while Charles Marius Dozy (1852-1901) was preparing an important article on Abel Tasman, the famous Dutch discoverer who is best known for his circumnavigation of Australia in 1642-43, together with Frans Jacobsz. Visscher.
The article, "Abel Tasman", containing several new facts on Tasman's life was eventually published in 1887 in the journal Bijdragen tot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde van Nederlandsch Indië.Tijdschrift van het Kon. Inst. voor de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde van Nederlandsch Indië. Volgreeks 5, dl. 2 (1887). Many of the references and short annotations are written on slips of paper which are glued to loose ll. of a printed bibliography.
Together with two original letters and three postcards by well-known Dutch archivists and librarians, answering questions on the same subject.

All in fine condition.
