Collection of 14 letters written by Charles Baudin (1792-1854), dated 1843-1847 (Baudin's time as Maritime Prefect at Toulon), writing 11 of his letters on the official letter paper of the 'Prefecture maritime du 5e arrondissement'.
It is an important collection of letters of one of the leading naval figures of the 19th century, a vice-admiral, later admiral, whose naval service extended from the First Empire through the early days of the Second Empire.
