XII, 30, (2), 252 pp. Rare original edition of the auction catalogue of the library of the famous French architect Emmanuel Louis Nicolas Viollet-le-Duc (1781-1857). Added at the end of the first vol. is an interesting publisher's catalogue Catalogue des livres de fonds qui se trouvent chez P. Jannet, successeur de Silvestre. Paris, Imprimerie de Guiraudet et Jouast, 1849. 8vo. 16 pp. The auction catalogue has been republished in 1973. The first part consists of books on poetry, prose, satyric stories, songs, fables and a unique collection of works by Voltaire. The second part contains books on theology, law, art, theatre and history. Ad 2: Rare original edition of the catalogue of Viollet-le-Duc's library, composed in ca. 1845-1847, starting with a supplement of 30 pp. and concluding with a treatise on the poetry and poets "Coup d'oeil rétrospectif" (pp.225-41), and an alphabetical list of the mentioned poets (pp. 243-52). This catalogue was replublished in 1965 and 1971. Very good uncut copy.- (Some foxing throughout text).
