Edinburgh, for Alexander Kincaid, 1790). Modern half grey calf, with old title-label mounted on spine. With 33 folding engraved maps, by McIntyre, T. Conder, and some by J. Fraser after A. Kincaid. 1 leaf with manuscript index.

Atlas, consisting of a collection of maps, taken from a "Geographical Grammar" published at Edinburgh in 1790, as is to be gathered from the vaguely visible offprint of the original text on verso of the first world map. Most maps, more or less, have vague offprints of the lettering of the original text on the facing pages, but it is mostly on the back of the maps. Still, in spite of the removing of the text, the present atlas is an interesting and nice pocket-atlas, and probably complete.
It contains maps of the World, the Strait of Magellan, a spherical globe, Ancient Asia, the Roman Empire, the world as known to the Ancients, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Scotland, England & Wales, Ireland, France, Belgium, Germany & The Netherlands, Poland & Prussia, Spain & Portugal, Italy, European Turkey & Hungary, Ancient Greece, Asia, the travels of Jesus, the East Indies, Hindostan, Africa, Palestine or Holy Land, North America, South America, the West Indies, New Holland or Australia, the Northern Hemisphere, the Southern Hemisphere, and 3 small spheres with their mathematical projections.
All maps of the contemporary world are stated to be designed after the latest discoveries, the maps of the hemispheres showing the routes and dates of the latest voyages.

Good copy.
