Funeral oration in memory of the theologian, scholar and professor Christianus Schotanus à Sterringa (1603-1671) by Nicolaas Arnoldi (1618-1680), held at the Friesland University at Franeker. At the end an eulogy by Michael Buschius, professor in Roman History and Eloquence. Schotanus was appointed professor in church history at the Franeker Academy in 1644. He wrote a number of theologian works but he is mostly known for his important historical and geographical work on Friesland titled 'Beschryvinge van de Heerlykheyd van Friesland'. (Franeker, 1664). Arnoldi, the author of the oration, was from Polish descent and studied at Franeker from 1641. He became professor in theology at the same institute in 1651.
