Original edition of a treatise on astronomical navigation by Dionisio Alcala Galiano (1762-1805), Spanish navigator and cartographer and captain in the Royal Spanish armada. He enrolled in the Spanish naval school in 1775. After graduating in 1779 he participated in hydrographic surveys of the Spanish and South American coasts and other Spanish naval scientific explorations. He is one of the authors of the '''Atlas Marino de Espana'' published in 1785-1788. He took part in the 1792 circumnavigation of Alejandro Malaspina. In 1805 he died in the Battle of Trafalgar.
