Fine album, richly filled with no less than 23 very proffesionally executed artistic contributions, dating from the 1840's, and belonging to a Miss Abeleven from Dordrecht. The drawings and watercolours were probably promised to the girl and made at leisure at home by the several contributors and then sent or presented in person to Miss Abeleven, as many contributions are on different paper and of different size. Only a few written contributions are present, mostly added on verso of the art work, the two contributions from Weesp also having a poem on verso. The artistic contributions in pencil, ink and watercolours are of exceptional quality, so the girl must have moved in the better circles where embroidery and drawing and painting belonged to a girl's accomplishments and where sketching after nature belonged to a young men's leisure hours as well. Size of the album is ca. 16.5 x 10.5 cm.

Fine copy, preserved in slipcase.
