(9), X-XIV, 138 pp. First edition of a detailed description of the island in the Azores, Saint Miguel. Abranches was a long-time resident on the island. It give political, historical, ecclesiastical and economical information. Before the table of content is a list which shows the export of the island, school attendance, expenses at local schools, the height above sea level of various locations of the island.The lithographed map shows the towns and the geographical features. The plates, including a large panorama of the waterfront of Ponta Delgada shows local costumes, towns, buildings, etc. Printed in Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel. Good copy.- (Tiny hole in bottom of spine, occ. light foxing).
