With large woodcut of a cock on title. (16) pp. Rare early edition, which however differs somewhat from the traditional "Groot A B C". Wanting to improve on the rather simple orthographic teaching method of the traditional "Haneboek", the publisher moved the woodcut of the cock to the title-page and directly started with the different alphabets on verso title. So he created some extra space for inserting a general explanation of the letters, some spelling exercises, and some simple spelling and reading exercises. Only then follow the usual religious reading exercises, here also including prayers before and after school. The Utrecht editions by Kemink were the only ones to have used the popular term "Haneboek" explicitly on their title. Fine copy, printed on strong thick paper.- (Loose in binding).
