The newly cut for this edition woodcut of a classroom on title is signed DVL. It presents a view differing from the previous editions of a classroom, showing a teacher in a closed pulpit with a boy standing beside it, and a few children sitting at a bench opposite each other in the middle of the classroom, while slates and a barometer are seen hanging on the wall. Also the woodcut of the cock and the teacher on verso title is again another variant, showing a small cock in front of a house and tree at the far right of the picture, with a large teacher with an open book in the foreground, and a young lady with a book hanging from one hand while  with the other pointing at the cock.
The poem underneath is a variant of the poem used in the Rotterdam edition by Jacobus Thompson, ca. 1800. The alphabet is printed in 6 different types. The contents are somewhat different, rather similar to those in the Delft edition by Van der Kloot, ca. 1800, with the commandments to a popular tune, Salomon's Prayer, Proverbia XXX, here with the translation signed M V W, and ending with the Morning Prayer.

Fine copy of a rare and unrecorded Zierikzee-imprint.- (Old owner's ms. entry on title, dated 1809).
