Amsterdam, for Jean Mossy, Marseille, 1763. 8vo. Contemporary mottled calf, spine gilt in compartments with title label lettered in gold, marbled edges, marbled endpapers. With woodcut vignette on title, 4 folding engraved plates with many figures and mathematical diagrams, some woodcut head- and tailpieces and initials. XXXII, 564, 4 pp.

Very rare, interesting and charming work with 12 philosophical amusements or pastimes on different scientifical subjects - divided into many propositions -, with an emphasis on mathematical and physical cases.
The author, a seventeent-century brother of the Minorites at Barcelona, tries to approach basic standards or certainties in another way to give a new, refreshing insight or idea. The book is dedicated to Jean-Baptiste de Belloy, bishop of Marseille. At the end is the 'Table des amusemens' (pp. 1-3).

Good copy.
